An Australian cash and banking guarantee

Coles is preparing for collapse of our cash system – as soon as next week

Supermarket giant Coles is limiting cash-out to $200, hoarding it’s own cash reserves and telling staff to direct customers to card and phone payments over the Easter long weekend.

Coles is concerned that it’s cash could be trapped in armoured trucks owned by Armaguard which may declare bankruptcy as soon as Wednesday next week.

Next Tuesday is Stand your Ground and Cash Out Day. On social media thousands of Australians are calling on all of us to make a cash withdrawal at an ATM, bank branch or EFTPOS cash-out retailer to show that we support the ongoing availability of cash.

The banks have offered Armaguard just $26 million to keep their trucks on the road and delivering cash to banks, ATMs and retailers until October. There is no long term solution on the table. This is not enough to keep cash deliveries going nationwide for the next six months.

Crunch time for the cash system is now.

Australia could effectively become a cashless society as soon as next week if Armaguard collapses.

The government must step in and force the banks to support the cash distribution system or develop a new solution to ensure Australians can get and use cash.

Please everyone:

1) Withdraw some cash on Tuesday and use it to show banks and politicians we will not be forced into a privacy-free, expensive, unreliable cashless Australia.

2) Please share our petition with all your friends and family to boost our numbers and demonstrate how many Aussies want to retain our right to use cash.

Check out our Cash Welcome online shop and spend some $$ supporting our campaign.

I’m posting POS stickers to any retailers and merchants asking for Cash Welcome signage. They are 60mm x 80mm (larger available) and popular. Hopefully we can take this battle for hearts and minds to as many retail points of sale as possible.

Cash Welcome is just me – Jason Bryce – and my friend Bart who helps with the website.

I started my petition because my local bank branch closed, my local supermarket went cashless and the government seemed to be limiting our right top use cash.

There are plenty of costs involved in this campaign so we rely on donations, from the public and from businesses that trust and rely on cash.

Please consider making a small credit/debit card contribution to our:

gofundme account

or our Patreon page.

If nothing else, shout me a coffee! 🙂
