Solano airport commission to review status of wind turbines lawsuit, wildlife policies

FAIRFIELD — The Solano County Airport Land Use Commission on Thursday will be updated on wildlife hazards policies and the status of the lawsuit the county brought against SMUD concerning the utility’s proposed changes to its wind turbines in the Montezuma Hills area near Travis Air Force Base.

The county opposed the new turbines due to impacts on the civilian radar system at Travis, but the Sacramento Municipal Utility District board approved the change to larger turbines anyway.

The commission, which also will consider whether Benicia’s short-term rental ordinance is consistent with the Travis Air Force Base Land Use Compatibility Plan, meets at 7 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors chamber on the first floor of the government center, 675 Texas St., in Fairfield.
