Wind Industry Meltdown: North Carolina Set to Slap Total Ban On All New Wind Projects

Wind power projects are at a standstill in North Carolina, following an 18-month moratorium on new wind projects. That ban practically crushed one project that an outfit called Apex Clean Energy had planned for Chowan County.

Now, legislation is working its way through North Carolina’s legislature that would result in a total ban on new wind turbines in all or part of more than 40 counties, including almost all of Eastern North Carolina. In that event, Apex’s Chowan County project, and dozens of others like it are doomed. Predictably, the wind industry is suffering fits of apoplexy.
