“Public service is a public trust” is political phrase attributed to President Grover Cleveland. Its meaning seemed a bit more tarnished after Falmouth’s Town Meeting voted to further finance turbine litigation.

I had expected the Town Meeting body to question the warrant article since the request seems to be a blatant raid on the town’s treasury … to say nothing of an attack upon the town’s best interest.

Wasn’t it just a few town meetings ago when the representative interest in the new wind turbine bylaw was subject to preserving the integrity of resident property rights?

I recall the 2012 spring Town Meeting wanting to do away with a bylaw that infringed upon basic neighbor principles and property rights of residents. This wasn’t as much a progressive idea as fundamental expectations thought to be owed each citizen.
